Standing Up Against Harassment: A Guide for Students

Harassment can be a distressing experience, but it's important to know that you have the right to a safe and inclusive learning environment. By understanding your rights and taking appropriate steps, you can protect yourself and others from harassment.


What to do if you are harassed or if you see harassment at school:

Document the Incident

  • Keep Notes: Record the date, time, location, and details of the harassment.

  • Make an Incident Report: File a formal report with the school administration.

Seek Support

  • Talk to a Parent or Trusted Adult: Discuss the situation and get advice.

  • Seek Counseling: Consider seeking counseling to cope with the emotional impact of harassment.​

Report the Harassment

  • Notify the School Administration: Inform the principal or another school official about the incident.

  • Be Specific: Clearly state that you are requesting the school to "stop the harassment."​
